WHAT IS AN INTENSIVE CE SERIES?
The Intensive CE Series is a blended learning model that combines weekly online CE course readings, weekly live webinar presentations, and an online forum for information exchange and networking with peers. Each series lasts 4 – 7 weeks, and is structured around live, interactive webinars with nationally known clinical experts on specific topic areas from the comfort of your home or office.

STROKE
Stroke is the third leading cause of death and the leading cause of long-term disability in the United States. More than 140,000 people die each year from stroke in the United States. These staggering statistics prove that healthcare providers need the most up-to-date information on the latest guidelines for recognition, diagnosis, and treatment of ischemic and hemorrhagic stroke.

Goal and Objectives for the Stroke Education Intensive CE Series:
The goal of the Stroke Intensive CE Series is to provide healthcare providers with information on and latest guidelines for recognition, diagnosis, and treatment of ischemic and hemorrhagic stroke. Upon completion of this series, attendees will be able to do the following:
· Identify the steps of a head-to-toe neurological examination to identify findings
consistent with possible stroke.
· Identify the causes, effects, and interventions of stroke.
· Name commonly encountered neurological deficits post-stroke.
· Describe the hyperacute and acute phases of stroke care.
· Identify the factors affecting rehabilitation after a stroke.
Cost of the 4-week program: $199 (discounted group rate of 3 or more: $175)
DEADLINE FOR REGISTRATION: November 5, 2012
Cancellation and Refund Policy:
Phone cancellations must be confirmed in writing. Cancellations received by October 12, 2012 will receive a full refund of the registration fee. Cancellations received between October 13, 2012 and November 12, 2012 will be assessed a $50 processing fee. Cancellations received after November 12, 2012 or “no shows” will not receive a refund. In the event that the program is cancelled, a full refund will be issued.

Donna Elmore, RN-BC,MS, CCRN, CMSRN, CNRN has over 35 years of nursing clinical experience coupled with significant experience in nursing education. She has been certified in or been an instructor in the following nursing certification and specialty areas: Medical-Surgical, Critical Care, Trauma, Neuroscience, Staff Development, ACLS, PALS, 12 Lead ECG and Rhythm Strip Interpretation, Cardiovascular, Pain Management, Orthopedics, and IV therapy. Ms. Elmore also has extensive live lecture teaching experience.
Megan McHugh, RN, MS, CCRN, CNRN has been continuously employed in neuroscience since 1983, predominantly in large teaching institutions. While employed as a neurodiagnostic technologist, she performed nerve conductions studies, EEG, polysomnography, and evoked potential studies both clinically and in the operating room. After pursuing a career transition into nursing, she has worked in neurosurgery stepdown and neurosurgical critical care units. For the past five years, she has worked as the Stroke Program Coordinator at Georgetown University Hospital. She teaches part of the neuro ICU orientation class, stroke nurse responder classes, and brings stroke awareness everywhere she goes.
Steve Risch, RN, MSN, CCRN, CCNS has been a critical care nurse for 15 years and is currently the Clinical Nurse Educator for the Neuroscience Intensive Care Unit at Georgetown University Hospital in Washington D.C. Steve is Adult Critical Care Nurse and Board certified Acute and Critical Care clinical nurse specialist. Mr. Risch has lectured for CCRN review courses and management of stroke patients around the Washington D.C. Area. Also, Steve is an invited speaker to the 2012 National Teaching Institute in Orlando. His special interests include neuro-critical and surgical critical care.
Anna Ver Hage RN, BSN, CCRN, CNRN is a Certified Critical Care Nurse and a Certified Neuroscience Nurse. She currently serves as a clinical nurse in the neurosurgical intensive care unit at University of Colorado Hospital, a certified primary stroke center in Aurora, Colorado. She has been involved in numerous quality improvement projects to improve the care of the stroke patient. She has authored and co-authored numerous articles on care of the neuroscience patient population with a focus on stroke. She was a primary investigator for an IRB approved research study assessing the accuracy of the dosing weight used when administering thrombolytics in the treatment of acute ischemic stroke. She has co-authored national guidelines regarding the care of the neuroscience patient. Anna has worked as a nurse for over 13 years in the critical care area in numerous university settings across the United States. Her nursing career includes experience in neurosciences, surgical, medical, trauma, burn and cardiac critical care settings. Anna also is an instructor for the NCLEX examination test preparation course through Kaplan University. Anna is committed to the nursing profession and feels certification in ones specialty is an important way to improve patient care. She enjoys not only educating other nurses but furthering her own education as well. She is currently finishing her Masters Degree in an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner program at St. Louis University. Anna is an active member of the American Association of Neuroscience Nurses (AANN) and a student member of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP).
